The Fredriksten Fortress is a landmark in Halden. It
is also known as the fortress where Carl XII
of Sweden lost his life in a
battle with Norway.
Today, the fortress hosts several museums that tell the story of Norway and Sweden’s battles throughout history
and lots more. There are military exhibits and valuable pieces recovered from
long departed times. The Fortress
Museum contains
storehouses, powder houses and secret passageways.
