The Backer Sister’s Memorial in Holmestrand is a monument which is dedicated to two crafted sisters, namely Harriet Backer and Agathe Backer Grøndahl. The first one was a well known painter that was born in Holmestrand and mostly lived in Oslo and the latter one was a famous musician, pianist and composer. Both of them can be considered actual pioneers, considering the fact that they were among the first career women that were accepted and highly admired in Norway.
