The Stoplesteinan is Norway’s
smaller version of Stonehenge. The monument
lies in Egersund and it has a mysterious history behind it. The legend says
that the monument was built in the time of the Vikings. Some historians say it
is a funeral place. Independent of these theories, the monument is a piece of Norway’s
history. However, the monument is 21 meters in diameter and is a gathering of
16 stones in a circle. The tallest stones are 1.2 metres high.
