Holmestrand has given Norway a wide range of impressive artists through the time. Among these famous artists, there are Olav Duun and Nils Kjær. While the writer Olav Duun is commemorated through his house in Holmestrand, the latter one has a unique monument which is called the Sun Worshiper (created by Arne Durban). Even the local home of the artist is well preserved and it is closely positioned next to the local museum in Holmestrand.
