Edvard Munch is, without any doubt, one of the most famous Norwegian personalities. The painter, who was considered a precursor of the expressionist current in painting, lived for a period in his life in Åsgårdstrand. His former house is now a museum and, without any doubt, is the best attraction in the small city of Åsgårdstrand. Even though the original house of the painter no longer exists, the municipality raised up a new house to commemorate the famous artist.
