Saltstraumen is known as the strongest maelstrom in
the entire world. The whirlpools here can get as large as 10 metres in diameter
with a depth of up to 5 metres. The location surprises the visitors with
breath-taking views and spectacular scenery. Saltstraumen is also well known
for the abundant fish in the local areas, making it a favourite destination for
anglers, but it is also a place of great climbing and trekking trails and some
interesting archaeological sites.
