The Ranarike District is a place present in many sagas and Norse stories. Apart from this, the district is part of the land that is bordered by the Svinesund and the Gota River. This piece of land was strongly disputed between the Norwegians and the Swedish folk, as it is situated between the borders of the two countries. St. Olav was the king that brought an end to these disputes, settling it as being a Norwegian land.
