Blaafarvevaeket

N-3340 Åmot i Modum

Blaafarveværket is located at Åmot, the very place where cobalt was first discovered at the end of the 17th century. Cobalt then served as the raw material for blue coloured glass, which provided great benefits to the local glasswork industry. The mines of Blaafarveværket then provided for most of the cobalt used worldwide. The story of the material is now told by a special display of monuments and exhibitions that celebrate the begining of glass and porcelain crafts.
