Vanse Church
is Norway’s
pride and joy, being one of the oldest churches in the country. The story goes
that it was opened in 1037. In time it has become a cross-church and some
people name it a cathedral. The Vanse
Church was subject to a
fire in the 19th century and consequently it had to be restored. The church was
rebuilt in stone and chalk plaster. There are 1100 seats in the church today.
