Johanneskirken

St. John Church or
Johanneskirken was built in 1894 and it is renowned as one of the most
beautiful and fine neo-Gothic churches in Norway. The red brick church is
located on top of a hill above the city’s principal square Torgalmenningen;
thus dominating the surroundings. With a 61 meters tall tower and a seating
capacity of 1250 Johanneskirken is the biggest church in Bergen. During summer, magnificent organ
recitals are held every Wednesday at 7.30 pm.
